December Rising by Sean C Ward Book Review

December Rising is a compelling historical fiction that explores the intricacies of human perseverance. The book deals with the trauma and experiences encountered in times of war, gripping readers from beginning to end. It portrays the bitter realities of the war.

The Bangladesh War of Liberation is waging its crucial last battles in December 1971. With all the traumas of war upon her, Doctor Meena fights against forces who would break her commitment to her patients and her community, unleashing the full might of an army against them. Their existence can only be guaranteed by facing the evils that are stacked against them. With women on the front lines of the struggle when the enemy is not always some outsider, taking any other course of action could have unimaginable repercussions.
Will Dr. Meena be able to protect them from an unstable army major who is determined to harm them? Will she be able to protect herself?

The book is a close examination of the endurance of the human spirit in the face of hardship. The first thing that I would like to mention is the commendable research that the author has to do to build the base for this wonderful story. The readers are teleported to that span of history due to the in-depth research of author.  The author's skillful writing craftsmanship makes plot seem real and compelling. The book is not only intellectually stimulating but also a sensory delight due to the rich background that enriches the storyline. It wonderfully describes the harsh realities of our day. The protagonist, Meena is an epitome of bravery. She is the hope to her community in the moments of crisis. Her resilience and will power make her an idol to readers. Sean's writing style, in-depth research, craftful characterisation, makes December Rising a compelling read for all who enjoys purposeful literature.
