Stillhouse Lake is an intense thriller series.
Actually, when I picked up the novel I didn’t know it is a part of a series and
I enjoyed it as such. The book doesn’t end in a fully dead cliff hanger. After
finishing it I came to know there are five books in this series featuring
the same protagonist. Stillhouse Lake is one of the five finalists for the
IATWA thriller awards in 2008.
So the protagonist Gina Royal is a shy stay at home
mother. She is married to Melvin Royal whether happily or not there lies the question.
She has two children Lily and Brady. One day she drives back home with her
children to only to find someone crashed into their garage and because of this
accident the police and everybody come
to know about the inside the Garage lies her serial killer husband’s killing floor
with a body mutilated. Now her husband has been sent to jail. Though she has
been acquitted she has to change her and her children’s identity and
location as protection because people still think she was involved. Internet
trolls and the families and close ones of the people whom her husband brutally
murdered are always after them as they want a horrible thing to happen to her and
her children as punishment. Now she moves to a house on Stillhouse lake and
thinking to settle here finally but again terrible incidents start to happen.
Now a mother will give her ultimate fight to save her family. Don’t think I
have told many things. Trust me all these things, you will be able to find in the first few numbers of pages and there are many a thing to come.
Book Insights :
The first thing I wanna say about this book is that this
book is not for faint-hearted people. It contains many gruesome graphic violent
descriptions. So, you cannot stand that please avoid this book.
The protagonist is just a badass woman. She is strong
and cautious and I just wish if ever I find myself in such a critical situation
as her I can handle that like her. And the bonus point is her children, Lily
and Brady who are just awesome in according to their age.
The depiction of Paranoia demands praise. Rachel
Caine really manipulated those psychological movements skillfully.
The dark side of the internet is also portrayed
perfectly that shows how apathetic nasty world lies beside the beautiful
world.
Next thing is the lifelike description. The
realistic description really takes the readers inside the plot.
The book is very gripping and definitely a page-turner. It can be read in only a few hours. A very fast-paced book.

of view of the protagonist. So we can get the whole picture of her psychology. The
language is easy and gripping so it is going to be a fast read. The text has
around 286 pages and the written price is Rs.299/.
